My 5 minute rant...
I'm not sure if you saw the VMAs, but I watched for the first time in like three years and I have never been so shocked as I was by what Kanye did to Taylor Swift tonight. He truly fulfilled the typical rapper stereotype by being arrogant, rude, disrespectful, and out of line when he bombarded the stage and stole the mic from Taylor. I know he has said he is the "best rapper ever", but Taylor Swift has more overall talent, tact and grace in her pinkie than he does in his entire body. She's 19 and writers her own songs and plays guitar and piano. What does Kanye do? Rhyme words into an audio phone? wow. I used to tolerate is cockiness b/c I liked some of his songs, but that ended tonight. I give total props to Beyonce for having such class and allowing Taylor to come back onto the stage and give her acceptance speech when Beyonce won her award. I really wish I could have seen Kanye's face, but luckily he had been kicked out. He has released an "apology", but it was so half-ass he might well have not. I'm sure this incident will create quite the raucous for 3 days, and I too will get over, but I wanted to voice my disgust.
If you didn't see what happened here are the clips and a link to his "apology"

Days long gone...
High school feels like it was so long ago and so much has happened, but sometimes I'm bombarded by what I don't have anymore. When I get bored in the grocery store I usually flip through the soap mags b/c I only watch one show so many times it's not worth buying it. In each magazine they always bold the names of the actors/characters so you can scan the things you want to. Well there is one actress on GH who's name is "Megan Ward". Since she's on GH and I see it all the time I don't usually stop and think about her name, but sometimes "Ward" brings me back to HS. My best friend's name was Rachel Ward and for 13 years, K-12, she was the only Ward I knew of. If I was an only child Rachel would be the closest thing to a sister for me. We were so different, but there was never a time when we really at odds. Then college crept up and we both kind of went our separate ways. I don't regret anything and I still feel immensely blessed by the life long friends I have made these past 5 years, but she was still my best friend and there are still times when I see "Ward" and I realize how much I miss her.
Me and Rachel Ward

The other Ward that makes me think of Rachel

*The hair color is the same...hahaha

Quick up date and another entertainment observation
Here we go. I've been out of school for close to two months. caught some rays on a cruise, then many, many more rays in Hawaii. I got a sick new car (Mazda 3) and I had a job for 3 weeks, but then they stopped calling me... So now I hang out with the pup then meet my mom for lunch, come home, get my OC on, then watch General Hospital when my mom gets home...
I just watched Encino Man for the first time today and I freaking loved it, but it made me realize how much teen movies have changed. It seems that movies from the early 90s were primarily centered around the male characters. It was always the dorky guy trying to get the cute, maybe a lil oblivious, girl and all the shananagins that follow. But starting around 2000ish teen movies really shifted to where the primary plot was centered around girls. Some examples include, ten things I hate about you, mean girls, Sydneywhite, and She's the man. Maybe there was a movement from "stoner" movies to more "chick flicks" in the teenage comedy genre.
If you haven't seen Encino Man... you need to. I'm gonna go buy it for $7 so lets all watch it together. :)
