I'm kidding, but really, it's just fabulous when all these people tweet pictures of all the AMMMMMAZING things they do. I've gotten to see Katy Perry's pink tree and the Kim Kardasian playing a board game with Reggie Bush. Then pictures of Soap stars skiing on their time off or recording a cd with their band. Then to top it off you can leave thought provoking comments on those pictures... I really can't think of a better way to spend my time at home.
I think I should also take some time to wish you all a very happy New Years. I can't believe it's been 10 years since we were all freaking about Y2K. In that time we have witnessed the worst attack on US soil on 9/11/01, San Diego experienced two horrific fires. I graduated from high school and college. Made some of my best friends during my time in ADChi. I had the honor of being my sister's maid of honor and spent the last 8 months getting excited for the newest addition to our family, due in March. There were definitely some things that sucked butt, but overall I wouldn't change a thing and I'm excited as this year begins

Eyes on the road kids!
I was taking part in one of my very favorite internet past time...voyerism, when I kind of get ticked off. One of the GH stars was tweeting about her family heading to the snow (she didn't say where) and this was one of the tweets..."yep! While listening to book on tape. Kids have video in back. Audrey finally just fell asleep... Oh. And michael is driving." The part that ticked me off was "kids have video in back". Then she was tweeting pictures and this was a really neat one...

I know I'm a dork, but it wouldn't hurt the kids for the parents to say "Hey check out that mountain." Technology has cooped up our kids and I think that is bad. Somethings a long a road trip are boring, but others are really cool. Then a few years later one of those kids will be in a geography class learning about sedimentary rocks and they would realize that they saw it up and close. When my family is in the car the kids can a) watch stuff outside, read a book if they can, C) take a nap , or D) actually interact with their family. I will say that DVDs and video games on planes is different, because in some case you are flying over water and it's not interesting until about 45 minutes before you land. Then there are other times when you flying across country and the pilot points out different points of interest. I guess you can call me old fashion, or a dork for all the geography classes I took, but observing your environment is much more important than tuning out and watching Sponge Bob.

Watch your "Blind side"
Everyone who is goo goo ga ga about "New Moon" needs to get over it and spend their next $8 to see "The Blind Side". I'm sure you've seen the previews but if you haven't, in nut shell the movie is a true story about a wealthy family taking in a homeless boy, Michael Oher, and the story of him becoming a great lineman, getting a scholarship to play football at 'ole miss, then being drafted by the Ravens. Sandra Bullock's character Leigh Ann is the backbone of the story and I sat there thinking, "Oh my God! That is my mom with a southern accent!"...if you have had the pleasure of meeting my mom you would see it too.
For example- Leigh Ann is looking for Michael after he ran away and she goes to the projects where he used to live and all the guys were cat calling her and threatening Michael...
"You threaten my son you threaten me."...
"I'm in a Bible study with the DA, I'm in the NRA, and I'm always packing"
Though my mom doesn't "pack" if we lived in the South she might... hehehe. When we got out of the theater, almost on cue, she turns and says, "I want to go pick up a sweet, homeless black boy and adopt him." (Luckily we were able to restrain her from driving down to Imperial Ave. in search of that person). If you are tired of pasty vampires with dirty hair, and want to see a true, funny and heart warming movie I strongly suggest The Blind Side

John 3:16...
I really hate trying to have a conversation about a verse and the other person not even attempting to understand my point of view. We were discussing the "reason for the season" and I brought up John 3:16 and the person's snap reaction was, "that verse is not about Christmas. Christmas didn't even exist when it was written." WELL DUUUUUH! That's not the point. I have always believed that John 3:16 was a compact way to explain why God sent Christ to earth. To me that has EVERYTHING to do with Christmas. If God didn't want to send his son to our world in the form of a human to live a sinless life and pay the ultimate price for our eternal salvation than there is no reason to have the holiday. I felt like I was talking in circles so I just left. I try not to get overly emotional, but it is important to me so I can't help it.

You are blessed...
If you are sitting at a computer reading this, you are blessed. If you live in a your own place, or with parents, you are blessed. If you are in school, of graduated, you are blessed. If you have family and friends that love and support you, you are blessed.
Yesterday I spent 2 hours at a domestic violence shelter where woman live with their children in order to get away from abusive relationships. The apartments have three beds in the common area, a room with 2 bonks, a small kitchen, and one small bathroom. These women literally walk in with the clothes on their backs and all this combined makes you look at your life and realize how luck you are. So next time you complain about not being able to go to that concert, just shut it... b/c there are families that can even afford to put food on their tables.
Lastly. With Veterans Day coming up we should really take a moment to acknowledge what the military has done for us. If you want to get some chills watch this commercial. It will make you cry and/or feel a little more patriotic...

Another weekend...another party
My pledge sis and others never fail to tell me I live the life of a character out of the OC, and I just roll my eyes, but I've started to feel like I am going/having as many parties as they did on the show. First it was the black tie CF gala. Two weeks later it was the Southbay Community Services event at the roof top club of the Ivy hotel. and finally two weeks later it is my dad's retirement party at my house..."Not your typical backyard bbq." So far there have been 55 people RSVP for Saturday and my mom is taking Friday off to set up. We hired a bartender and are having it catered by a Hawaiian food restaurant. I guess the one similarity b/t fact and fiction is that now that we are all adults we go to these events together, which in turn means that I have to get a new outfit b/c I can't wear the same dress from last year (please slap me. I can't believe I said that). The truth is however, after 6 weeks of these things I'm kind of glad my weekends are going to calm down. Life in the OC must have been really hard!!!
